She speaks Spanish fluently, as she lived in Central and South America for a period of time. While abroad she built latrines, provided oral rehydration, and other health-related treatment for people. She also studied at the University of Cecemac in Morelia, Michoacan, and in San Jose, Costa Rica.

The anchor in her life is her wonderful husband, Matt! He has made her laugh for many years! She is so grateful to have him share his life with her. She is also very fortunate to have two wonderful sons who are amazing human beings who have been the best gift!
